2 children and one adult were taken to hospital after being attacked by an animal at a playground in west Dublin.
The dog is believed to be an Irish Greyhound and the two children and an adult were treated for minor injuries.
The incident took place in Ballymote, Co Wicklow on Sunday evening.
Gardaí are appealing for witnesses to come forward.
A number of people have been arrested over the past week.
A police spokesperson said the dog was brought to the scene by a man who was in a nearby field.
The man was detained and the dog will be taken to an animal centre.
“This is a very dangerous situation, this dog is a dangerous animal, the dog should be shot immediately,” Superintendent of Police Michael O’Brien said.
“The gardaí will be making every effort to contact the owner to provide details of the dog, as it is extremely dangerous to bring in a dog into the city.”
